ORLANDO, Fla. (Ivanhoe Newswire) — Americans spent more than $62 billion on their pets in 2016, according to the American Pet Products Association.

So it’s no wonder that the tech industry is trying to cash in on that. They want to make your pet as connected as you are. Here’s some of the newest technology for your pet.

Busy pet owners no longer have to feel guilty when their furry friend is left home alone for hours on end. The Petcube Camera lets you see your pet, talk to them and play with them using the built in laser toy.

Gadgets like Petzi and Furbo also let you see and talk to your pet, but they have the added feature of using your smart phone to toss your pet a treat.

If have more than one pet and you want to feed them while you’re away the Microchip Pet Feeder from Sure-Flap will only feed a specific pet after reading their microchip. This way the dog won’t leave the cat hungry.

And the American Kennel Club has come out with their own smart collar called Link. It has GPS tracking that sends an alert if your dog escapes. It also sends an alert if your dog is in an environment that’s too hot or too cold.

And finally, makers of the Kyon Sense Collar say you’ll never have to guess what your pet is feeling. The LED scrolling collar tracks their activity and lets you know if your dog is happy or feeling sad.

And soon to be on the market, Felcana will go a little further in tracking your pet’s activity. Touted as a health monitoring device, it will log how much your pet eats and drinks, and detect any changes in their behavior such as anxiety or fatigue which can be signs of illness. The price has not been set yet.
