Orlando, Fla. (Ivanhoe Newswire) — Millennials, they are people who are born between 1981 and 1996. They are between the ages of 29 and 44. They are becoming parents, moving up the corporate ladders, creating their own businesses and they are really, really good at selfies! We’ve all heard the complaints, they are lazy, self-obsessed and entitled. Or are they? Maybe they know something we don’t! Maybe they are leading the change that will impact all of our lives.
Millennials, they grew up with smart phones and messaging and selfies, but there are things Gen X’ers and boomers can learn from millennials.
Ann Shoket former editor in chief of Seventeen Magazine explained in this TED talk how millennial women are changing what it means to be powerful and successful.
New reports show millennial women are better educated and make more money than previous generations.
Because they grew up on social media, these women are demanding transparency. At work that means salary transparency will get us all closer to equal pay. They are normalizing hybrid work, showing how work and life can work together. And they’re dedicated to helping other women succeed.
So instead of finding fault, maybe we should take this opportunity to become more millennial.
Today, for the first time in history, 43 percent of women are earning equal salaries to their partners and 18 percent are the primary earners in their home. The most important opportunities millennial women are looking for include career progression and competitive wages.
