ORLANDO, Fla. (Ivanhoe Newswire) --Think you don’t have what it takes to pursue your dreams? One woman shows us how she picked up a saxophone and changed her life.
These days you can catch Katja Rieckermann tearing it up on stage with Rod Stewart.
"It’s become my lifestyle you know," Katja Rieckermann, a saxophone player told Ivanhoe.
But for years playing the sax was only a dream. Rieckermann had no musical training, but she had something more important - desire.
"I decided I really wanted to become a musician. So I stopped everything else," Rieckermann said.
A lesson once a week ballooned into practicing eight hours a day. To make your heart sing, she offers three tips. The first is believe in yourself.
"Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re too old, you’re not talented enough," Rieckermann said.
Second, follow your path.
"Just do it. Listen to your gut feeling," Rieckermann said.
Finally, be willing to pay the price.
"You have to be German. By German I mean you have to really stick to your schedule," Rieckermann concluded.
Rieckermann spent the last three years working on her second CD called Horn Star. You can find it on iTunes and in stores.
