I believe that Flouroquinoline (FQ) Antibiotics Levaquin, Avelox, Cipro and many others are ruining peoples lives. My story is one of shattered trust in my doctors that led to the worst 10 years of my life. In 2002 my ENT prescribed Levaquin 6 times post sinusitis surgery. I suffered severe tendonopathy and a tear to my left elbow; at that time I never put together that these antibiotics would cause even more damage. I was 41 years old then. Today, I am scheduled for my third rotator cuff repair to my right shoulder. Over the past 10 years I blindly trusted my doctors and the pharmaceutical companies only to learn they let me down. I've spent thousands of dollars over these years, suffered a total of 6 tendon tears; left elbow, left rotator cuff, and 3 tears to my right rotator cuff and nerve damage to my left hand that required surgery along with a myriad of other adverse reactions to these drugs. Most of my doctors refuse to believe Florouquinolone drugs are responsible. One wasn't even aware of the black box warnings on these drugs that was required by the FDA in 2008. There are thousands of us out there that trusted our doctors, the FDA and the pharmaceutical manufacturers only to be permanently damaged by their ignorance. All of my doctors knew of my tendon tears and still prescribed FQ's. Why would they prescribe these drugs when the box warning clearly says not to?
