App Alert! How Tall Will Your Child Be?

BALTIMORE (Ivanhoe Newswire) --Do you have hoop dreams for your kids? Or just want to know how tall they might be? A new free app can give you the answer.

Ever wonder if your child will be the next Michael Jordan? Now there’s a new app out there that can tell you how tall your child will be!

"We can see a child in the office at virtually any age, 6 months, a year, two years, five years and we can make projections," John Herzenberg, M.D., at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore told Ivanhoe.

It’s called the multiplier app and has ten years of science behind it. Sinai Hospital originally designed it for other pediatricians who deal with kids with birth defects like short arms and legs. But the free app can be used by anyone.

"It’s just fun. Everybody wants to talk about their kids and think about what they’re going to be like when they get bigger," Dr. Herzenberg said.

That’s why Rina Bethea is putting the app to the test. Bethea is 5’5 ½. Her husband is 6’3.

The app itself is easy just put in your child’s age. Avi is two. When it’s time to get measured, at first doesn’t budge, then finally he’s measured.

"74.5 inches. That is 6’2 ½ so my prediction is little Avi is going to be like big Avi he’s going to be like his dad," Dr. Herzenberg said.

Now it’s Ori’s turn. The app predicts the 3-month-old will be 6’7!

"That’s a beast. 6’7 is pretty tall, Dr. Herzenberg said. I think you could keep going and have a basketball team."

In case you’re wondering the average height for a woman is 5’4, for a man it’s 5’10. The multiplier app is available for free on your iPad, iPhone, or android device. Dr. Herzenberg says parents can expect accuracy of predicting height to within one and a half inches. The highest accuracy can be found when a child turns 8.
